Naturally WAFTA Exhibition 2009

WAFTA celebrated the International Year of Fibres with Naturally, an exhibition showcasing the work of it’s members at the Moores Building Gallery, Fremantle WA

The brief was to create a 3.5m x .5m textile piece from at least 80% natural fibre ie cotton, silk, wool, linen…

WAFTA’s members come from a diverse range of fibre and textile backgrounds: felt, stitch, dye, print, weave, quilt, embroider and much more.

My piece, Ripples of Light was created using 5 layers of natural silk organza stitched together on the bias, then slashed between the stitching to create a chenille effect.
