My studio is not always used for really creative works…

My son Callum loves Beaker from the Muppets. The one that has all the experiments performed on him by Bunsen. Beaker gets tied to things, set alight…he is usually squealing in horror. Our original Beaker was purchased by my older son on a visit to Disney World in Florida in 2004. Callum claimed him as his own before we returned home. A few years later a second Beaker was brought home from Disneyland by a dear friend as we thought the original wouldn’t last much longer. (You can not buy Beaker online anywhere). Callum now had two Beakers, equally loved. They have lost their hair, lab coats, ties and been repaired many, many times. I have made Eagles and Dockers Footy Jumpers for them…

This was Beaker a few weeks ago…

Old BeakerHere he is with “other” Beaker.

Two BeakersHere he is with a new jacket and slightly shorter arms, that unfortunately don’t swing anymore.

New BeakerEven with his newly painted eyes, he still doesn’t look very happyNew Beaker sittingAmazingly, they all once looked like this…

  1. One of the advantages of being a textilian is that one can perform amazing micr-surgical miracles on much loved cloth based members of the family. You are also a skilled ophthalmic surgeon as well! Good to see. Callum is a lucky fellow.
