Sculptures on the Scarp

Sculptures on the Scarp is part of the Darlington Arts Festival, held on the first weekend in November each year. Sculptures and art installations line the Darlington Railway Reserve, stretching from Brook Road through to the Darlington Pavilion. I was surprised and delighted to receive an Honourable Mention and the People’s Choice Award for my work Everlasting Love?

The 1000+  flowers in this artwork are made from over 500m of UTP computer cable. The enclosed eight strands of wire were untwisted, stretched, dyed, wrapped, sprayed and assembled with recycled buttons. Everlasting Love? asks “If we continue to throw away our once loved technology for the latest bright shiny new thing, will we have room to plant flowers? Or will the only flowers be made from landfill contents?
