A while back, my friend Anne Williams showed me a Slot and Tab fabric book she made. The book consists of ten pieces that slot together to create a 20 page book. I thought this was an ideal project while resting on the sofa recovering from major surgery over the past few months.
I used some scraps of an old woollen blanket that I had previously hand dyed grey. Each piece was cut to shape and hemmed with Blanket stitch and the pages numbered. As inspiration for the stitched pages, I chose scraps of tie fabrics and matched them with embroidery threads, each in it’s own zip lock bag. Ten small works pre-prepared and ready to go. I called it Stitching on the Sofa!
