Through My Dining Room Window

Through my dining room window, I see a large Jacaranda tree. Not as large and magnificent as the 70-year-old street trees in my neighbourhood that create a violet archway every November, but very special to me. It was a gift from my late Father-in-Law nearly 20 years ago. I’ve patiently watched it grow from a small plant to over 7m tall, marking the seasons; from feathery green leaves with large seed pods, to leaves turning brown before falling to reveal bare stems, then a bloom of purple.

Made from recycled silk business ties

It is on show in the Mundaring Art Centre exhibition The Second Best Time is Now until19 December 2021.
